The New School of Translation
In translation something is always lost, no two languages have the same conceptual understanding of the world. But in translation there is also creation and this is where we come in. We strive our utmost to deliver a translation which conveys your message and ideas in a new context. In this conflict with meaning, we work diligently to research, understand and create a satisfying result for you and your customers.
In our work we are flexible, always incorporating new ideas, tools and practises into our translations.
We’re well versed in European law, AI training, transcreation, and all around knowledgeable in our languages and their cultures/ intercultural contexts.
We are a two-person team translating to and from English and Danish as well as from Norwegian and Swedish to English or Danish.
In our work we share a love of language, learning and improving. Between us we have our own nickname for our company which we will soon reflect in our logo and already is in the name of this website. It is a bit of a language joke involving both of our names Valbjørn and Trappaud. These names can be translated as “Valbjørn —> Whale Bear” and the name Trappaud (from French) sounds a lot like “Trappe”, which gets translated to “stairs”, hence the name Whale Bear Stair Translation in WBSTranslation —> wbstrans.com. The name represents us both in philosophy and in humor, we like to have fun with language.
